Okay you’re so much luckier than most of the people in the world (as am i). What are you doing about changing that? What can you do about it? It’s nice to realize how well off one is and how bad off others are but if you’re not crying at the end of this you don’t understand the problem. We are not better off, others are just worse off. If we’re not rich enough or powerful enough to change people’s lives then how can we think we are better off? We are no better off than those who can’t read or don’t have any money or who are sitting in prisons. They can’t change their lives or ours any more than we can change theirs or ours. We aren’t fortunate, we are just closer to the front of the battle and are able to understand the nature of the horror.
